Adam S. Wenick, M.D., PhD

Dr. Wenick is a board certified, fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in diseases of the retina, macula and vitreous. Dr. Wenick received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and then attended Columbia University where he received both his medical degree and a PhD in molecular genetics. Following medical school Dr. Wenick completed both his residency and fellowship training at the the world renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital. At the end of fellowship, Dr. Wenick stayed on as faculty at Johns Hopkins for 13 years before joining Mid-Atlantic Retina Specialists.
While at Wilmer, Dr. Wenick served as the head of resident retina education as well as director of retina fellowship program. Dr. Wenick is an author on numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters and has participated in dozens of clinical trials. While on faculty at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Wenick maintained practice locations at the main Wilmer location at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore as well as Wilmer’s satellite office in Bethesda Maryland, where he become one of Wilmer’s busiest clinicians and retina surgeons. His practice included patients who traveled to see him from across the US and from around the world. He was named as a Top Doctor in the Washington, DC area by both Bethesda Magazine and Washingtonian Magazine.
Dr. Wenick provides care for patients with all types of medical and surgical retinal disease, including patients with age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, and retinal detachments. He also cares for children over the age of one with medical and surgical retinal disease. Dr. Wenick is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
